Background on EPiC Programs

Educational Programs in Collaboration (EPiC) is a Michigan-based initiative designed to expand access to specialized healthcare education through a collaborative model among the state’s community colleges. Supported by the Michigan Workforce Training and Education Collaborative (MWTEC), EPiC enables colleges to jointly offer quality healthcare programs that might otherwise be financially unfeasible for individual institutions. Through this shared approach, students across Michigan can enroll in high-quality and affordable healthcare programs without needing to relocate.

Programs are delivered in a hybrid format: academic coursework is completed online via Michigan Colleges Online (MCO), while hands-on clinical training is conducted at local affiliate healthcare facilities. This flexible structure allows students to access quality education regardless of their location. EPiC offers a variety of healthcare-focused programs, all of which are aligned with accrediting standards to prepare students for certification exams and direct entry into the workforce.

For prospective students, EPiC provides an affordable and accessible pathway into high-demand healthcare fields. The consortium ensures consistency in educational quality across participating institutions and fosters workforce readiness through a combination of online learning and practical clinical experience.
